It is so weird to see how quickly time has past and that Wicked is already celebrating its 20th anniversary. My mom got me tickets for their “Wicked Day” 10th anniversary and I went to the after party and got to meet all of the cast, which is still one of the coolest memories I have of theater. One of my post prized possessions is a page I ripped out of my English notebook that I wrote “Wicked” on in sharpie and had all the cast members sign at the afterparty. Wicked is such a fantastic show and the scale is magnificent, I love how they have inhabited the Gershwin. I’ve been able to see the show a few times, and with each time I see it it never loses its magic, and each set of cast members has been incredibly talented. I hope everyone has a fantastic time with this anniversary and party, and hopefully this show has a long life on Broadway so that more people can experience the magic I did.
I do not think that any words can truly describe how much I love the musical Wicked. This is for sure one of my favorite musicals, if not my favorite. Everything about this show is just incredible. Growing up, I loved The Wizard of Oz, and this show does such a fantastic job of going further with that story and adding so much nuance and reality to this fantasy land. I think that whoever you are or where you come from, there is something you can resonate with in the characters or the plot. Additionally, I have a very deep emotional connection to this musical because I played Elphaba in the pilot production of the junior version and I even got to meet Stephen Schwartz! I love that this show has been able to tour the world and touch the lives of people everywhere and I hope it runs forever.
I am genuinely so intrigued by all the treats and stuff mentioned in this article. I am a “foodie” aka. Someone who enjoys food. I would love to try all of the limited edition snacks/ experiences that feature and celebrate Wicked’s 20th anniversary of being on broadway. I have never seen this show on Broadway, but I saw the off-broadway tour that came to Colorado. I went with my mom, and safe to say she was not a fan, I however was. I sat there in awe of the show's music and tech, while my mother sat next to me debating whether or not she wanted to make me leave with her since she really disliked it. Thankfully we didn’t leave and watched the whole show (thanks mom!). I would love to work on this show in the future and hope to see it live and prosper on Broadway for another 20 years!
