One system. Multiple problems solved. | Learn more about One system. Multiple problems solved.
from Nicopress: A good rigging setup is strong and predictable. The Nicopress approach is built around speed, consistency and verification. Oval sleeves are gaugeable, designed for tool-and-sleeve compatibility, and (for mil-spec cable applications) can hold to 100% RBS when properly installed.
The fastest way to keep things consistent (and reduce rework) is to match the sleeve family to the line type, the job the termination has to do, and the environment it’s living in (shop vs. venue, permanent vs. temporary, static vs. frequently handled).

Rigging Edge Protection
www.cmco.com: In the construction and lifting industry, the smallest mistake can cause costly damage. One often-overlooked detail is using edge protection for slings when lifting a load.
Edge protection may seem minor, but it plays a critical role in preventing sling failure, protecting loads, and keeping crews safe.

ETC Rigging Reno at the Carrier Dome
et cetera...: When Syracuse University decided to renovate the legendary Carrier Dome, one of the key components was a rigging system that would support their scoreboard. They wanted a scoreboard that would provide a “wow factor” for their fans and players. With four sides that are each 62.5 feet wide and 20 feet tall, and a six-foot ribbon board running around the bottom on the interior, the new scoreboard is not just impressive, it is the second-largest indoor center-hung system in the United States and the third-largest in North America.

Rotation Resistant Wire Rope
Silver State Wire Rope & Rigging: Rotation resistant wire ropes are a series of steel ropes that were built specifically to not spin or rotate under a load. These ropes are designed to resist spinning by putting layers of wire rope spun in one direction, while the outer layers are spun in the opposite direction. The more layers there are, the less likely it will rotate.

Prolyte: Having worked at Prolyte in his present position for ten years, Eric Laanstra is an acknowledged industry expert. In his most recent video for A4I.tv, Eric talks us through the very latest developments in Prolyte’s innovative new Verto-Truss Systems range.
To briefly recap, the Verto system was originally developed as a fast and quiet alternative to the Conical Connecting System. “Silent. Safe. Quick,” are the three words Eric chooses to describe the Verto-Truss System, and assembly and disassembly are very quick indeed.

How Wire Rope is Used in High-Wire Walking
Silver State Wire Rope & Rigging: Wire rope is used for many things but one of the most unusual ways it’s used is in high-wire walking. They generally use galvanized 7 x 19 inner wire rope core. They use galvanized cables because they have very little lubrication and won’t rust.

How to Sew Webbing Loops
Sailrite: Sewn loops on webbing are used in a variety of load bearing applications. Sailboat harness tethers use sewn loops so you can clip to your boat’s jackline to keep you safely onboard. They’re used in towing applications. They’re found on safety harnesses and climbing gear, lifting harnesses for dinghies and outboard motors, and much more. If you want to sew your own webbing loops, it’s important to understand the mechanics of proper loop construction and how to sew loops with the required minimum breaking strength (MBS) for your particular weight bearing application. Understanding the math and the calculations required to sew loops with adequate MBS will keep your sewn loops from breaking and causing potential harm or injury.

Working at Height: What's In Your Rigging Kit?
TheatreArtLife: I’m headed on a rope access job in a stadium and putting together my gear. Stadiums are a fun climb and a great workout. Lots of stairs and a lot of trips up and down a rope. There’s a lot of risk with stadiums because you’re forced to make a lot of decisions that may have some big implications on your overall quality of life.

Plans for New High School Exclude ‘Fly Loft & System’ for Its Theater
Falls Church News-Press Online: The biggest citizen concern to arise so far from recent public input sessions on the plans for the new George Mason High School focus on what the new theater/auditorium space there is going to be like. Unlike the current high school’s space, the new plan would be to remove the “fly” loft and system that many consider vital for theatrical productions, and more than a few parents and citizens are not happy.

The Flywire - Issue # 36
The Flywire - Issue # 36: When I was recently asked this, I thought it was a great question. Certainly, every rigger might answer this question differently, but for me the answer is clear – wire rope. Here is why.
My primary job as an aerial rigger is to safely hang stuff (typically aerial apparatus, but maybe a pulley or something else) from a beam of some sort.

Production Notes: Ratchet Pulls
Nevada Film Office: In film production, ratchet pulls are used to pull and launch actors and stunt performers in flying stunts. Using cables and the appropriate harnesses, a carefully rigged stunt employing a ratchet system helps give the illusion of a character flying through the air in an action scene. Stunts that typically require ratchet systems include explosions, fight scenes, or scenes where an actor is hit with gunshots.
