Universal Reveals a Trailer for Its Behind the Scenes Theme Park Docuseries
gizmodo.com: Disney gets all the press, and Six Flags has all the dancing commercials, but Universal has always had a strong position in the theme park world. Starting with a simple tour of the Universal lot in Hollywood, the film studio evolved that into several parks across the globe, all of which showcase the big, popular film and TV shows created by the studio. Then, last year, that culminated with Universal opening its most advanced park yet, Epic Universe in Orlando.

Brown Girls Do Ballet Wants to Make More Misty Copelands
Colorlines: At one point during "A Ballerina's Tale," the Misty Copeland documentary airing tonight (February 8) on PBS, we see the history-making principal dancer of the American Ballet Theatre gazing up at a banner advertising her performance of "Firebird" at the Metropolitan Opera House. The sign displays a gorgeous photo of Copeland, back arched, flames flowing from her body. "Oh my God, that's a curvy Black woman on the front of the Met," she says with astonishment. "That's me."

Business Lessons From ‘The Wrecking Crew’ Documentary
Pro Sound Web: “Obscurity is the realm of error.” — Attributed to Luc De Clapiers.
The Wrecking Crew is a documentary about an elite collection of musicians. These troubadours were studio musicians who helped add to the sound of rock n’ roll from the mid 1950s to the present day.
Despite their incredible influence, their names and body of work were known only by a small set of music industry insiders. Their names do not appear on any albums nor do they have a hallowed space in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

IMAX film 'Robots' shows how special humans are
TribLIVE: Anthropomorphic humanoid robots aren't just cute and funny and intriguing. Some of them literally could save your life, like rescue robots who go into areas too dangerous for humans.
In a new IMAX film that seems especially fit for Pittsburgh — two robots are from Carnegie Mellon University's Robotics Institute — viewers can learn about humanoid robots and the scientific advances behind them.

A Scathing, Brutally Honest Rant About Not Working for Free

Jeremy Whelehan Documents the Power of Live Theater
Below the Line: Often, the best documentaries capture a moment in time that only a select group of people actually experienced in real life while the rest of the audience observes the reality on film alone. Among many examples, the film Woodstock has been enjoyed by countless millions across 45 years while only a few hundred thousand were present in 1969 for the seminal live event. In NOW: In the Wings on a World Stage, documentary filmmaker Jeremy Whelehan followed a massive global touring production of Richard III starring Kevin Spacey, resulting in a feature-length cinematic phenomenon.

Documentary goes behind the music in Branson
TribLIVE: Documentary filmmakers A.J. Schnack and David Wilson knew it would be easy to make fun of Branson, middle America's flag-waving, family-friendly celebration of musical variety shows and early-bird dinner specials.
But the Midwest natives felt a stronger obligation to dig beneath the surface and portray local performers and town leaders as more than aw-shucks Ozark folk.
The result is “We Always Lie to Strangers,” a new film that unspools a nuanced story of how the southwest Missouri resort is dealing with the aftermath of an economic recession, an aging audience and performance troupes whose gay cast members live a version of “don't ask, don't tell” among their conservative Christian neighbors.
