Bad Wolf CEO Jane Tranter on ‘Doctor Who,’ AI, Hollywood Strikes
The Hollywood Reporter: The Wales-based production juggernaut, majority-owned by Sony, continues to go strong with the likes of epic The Winter King, based on Bernard Cornwell’s best-selling Warlord Chronicles books, and Russell T. Davies’ Doctor Who series. Other productions over the past 12 months have included a third season of HBO trading floor drama Industry, ITV thriller Red Eye, starring Richard Armitage, and the upcoming BBC/Sony-backed drama series Dope Girls about a female crime boss in London.

I never really considered how the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes would affect film and television industries outside of America. I am glad that Jane Tranter and Bad Wolf managed to make the most of this year despite the any issues or delays stemming from the American strikes. While I chose to read this article because of recognizing Bad Wolf as a potential Doctor Who reference and also the Doctor Who mention in the title, my main takeaway is just being impressed that Jane Tranter and the production company have managed to do so much in the past year. I am not too familiar with how television filming and production schedules work or how they might overlap with each other, but it certainly sounds like she was very busy. It is reassuring to see a successful woman talk about her successes.
