This company is so incredibly cool. It is when I see amazing special effects and props and sets that look this good and are created with such passion and care that I wish that movies and television producers would invest more money and time into these beautifully skilled aspects of design. I think that it is upsetting that hollywood and television turned so entirely to CGI. Nothing against the workers who make CGI for entertainment but I think that it is so much more impactful to do something practically. It is why I find the original Jurassic Park to be so magical in contrast to the new Jurassic World which does not feel special in any way visually. And you do not even have to have a million dollars to do it. People for years have come up with clever ways to do their effects practically, especially the horror industry whether movies or haunted houses.
Now this is the scenic and prop article of my dreams! There was an article a couple weeks ago on the figures for various medical shows that did not go into detail about how the figures were made and I was very disappointed. Spall does a lovely job explaining to the readers what her process is like and how things come together. We love a good plug for Roscoe Supersaturated but its praise is well deserved. It is what we use in the paint shop which I've had the pleasure of getting to spend more time in taking Scenic Painting I. I understand some of these techniques. I'm curious to learn more about some of these more advanced skills. I am most intrigued by the vacuum sealed plastic barrels, But I guess some things are made to remain mysterious.
Things are also a delicate balance of hyperrealistic and making it larger than life. There's no way that I could have gone through this tour if these were all hyper realistic and I'm glad that that was taken into consideration when putting this together.
