Upload's Costume Designer on 'Pushing the Boundary' in Season 3's Digital Wardrobes
people.com: Imagine living in virtual reality where any outfits you dream up, you can wear. Your closet could be endless.
That's the digital world in Prime Video's Upload, but the downside is that if you're living in virtual reality, you're probably dead. Morbid? Maybe. Still pretty cool? Definitely.

This was so interesting to read about! I’m not quite familiar with the show Upload, however though I’m not entirely intrigued by seeing people live in a virtual-world-afterlife, I’m entirely intrigued by seeing the costume transformations throughout the show. I loved reading Khaki-Sadigh’s responses, and learning about her process and the stories behind each character’s clothing changes. It must be a challenge to design for a show like this, though it’s also probably a lot of fun. As these people are still ‘real world people’ though thrown into a digital landscape it seems, so you would need to semi-stick to the constraints of modern fashion - and yet you also have such a wide world of possibilities to pick from due to the ‘in VR you can have anything’ mentality. I wonder how she finds that middle ground, and if there has ever been an outfit yet that she had to tone back because it was Too exploratory? The extent of creative freedom with these digital outfits is fascinating, and I’d love to learn more about it.
