Best Film Schools

nofilmschool.com: Every year, The Wrap creates a list of what it deems to be the top film schools in the United States. This year, the list has a bit of a shakeup. The benefits of film school are pretty easy to see: if you go to a good one, you can learn how to use equipment and refine your craft, and also network once you graduate.

I think I have a fundamental misunderstanding of what goes on at a film school. I have always pictured it almost like the local news station my father used to work at. Many editing bays completely covered in sound proofing, a long hallway that smelled like hair gel, a studio with green screens and large cameras on tracks and a gigantic editing setup for the weather report or a transition. I suppose I have always thought that film school was like theatre school. Learn by doing in the classroom. Honestly, it may be but I wouldn't know. On a separate note, I am infinitely glad that NYU is not 1st on the list. They may be high up there but at least they are not 1st. Their film students are insufferable as it is without a #1 ranking ballooning their egos any further. I am intrigued by the fact that University of Arizona is on this list as I have never heard anything about their film program, let alone their general academics.
