Confronted With "All-In" Deception, LN's CEO Blames Competition
www.ticketnews.com: Live Nation Entertainment’s CEO Michael Rapino reportedly had a fairly simple response for recent criticism and questioning from Sen. Amy Klobuchar regarding his company’s prominent pledge to President Biden that it would stop hiding “junk fees” from consumers – it’s the other guys’ fault.

I was vaguely aware of this situation with the online ticket sellers. Despite not being their frequent customer, I remember the few times when I bought tickets from Live Nation and Ticketmaster and saw random surcharges. As a consumer, I fully understand why it is frustrating when the listed price and final checkout price are vastly different. I feel the same when purchasing a plane ticket: Expedia will tell me the ticket is $250, but when I get to the checkout page, it suddenly becomes $350 with a bunch of extra fees added. I think this is meant to trick the customers into thinking the prices are low, but in reality, it causes a lot of retaliation because the customers have to spend longer in price matching and are more likely to have a poor impression. From the article, it seems like many companies’ approach is the same – they are unwilling to compromise and change if other companies are not changing.
