Wicked Celebrates 20 Years on Broadway with Commemorative Playbill
Playbill: Let us be glad! Wicked is celebrating 20 years of performances at Broadway's Gershwin Theatre on October 30, 2023—and what better way to celebrate than with a commemorative Playbill? The exclusive memorabilia is available to Wicked attendees during the month of October

My dad took me and my Sister to see Wicked on Broadway for my 9th birthday and though I was young it is still one of my fondest memories. I have always loved Wizard of Oz. I’ve read all the books and I named my dog Toto (though everybody called him Toddy for some reason). I’ve seen the movie more times than I can count. So, obviously I also loved Wicked. It is an absolutely beautiful musical with an amazing score, an amazing design, and a show stopping book. I love it. I’m so so excited for the 20th anniversary. I love that they’re doing so many fun things. I can not wait to look at photos from the Wicked themed party in the Plaza. The moleskin notebooks are going to be so cool. I’ve been meaning to get a new mole skin so I’m super excited for this to get released. Maybe I will invest.
YAY! Congratulations Wicked!! This was very exciting and happy news to hear! I have been fortunate enough to be able to see Wicked twice on broadway. The first time was with my family, the first time I had ever been to New York, and the second time was on a trip with the youth theatre that I was apart of. We had gone to New York to perform in a benefit show for children with autism and the show was performed on the Gershwin stage. To think that I have stood and sung on the same stage as Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth was crazy then and is still crazy now! Alyssa Fox was also Elphaba when we were there so it was cool to see that she is still slaying the game. Since we were in the Gershwin, a part of the show was Alyssa Fox and one of the hosts that was a part of the autism community singing “For Good” while Stephen Schwartz played the piano which was a surreal experience. For all of those reasons and more Wicked holds a very special place in my heart and it is very exciting to see her turn 20!!
I went and saw Wicked when the came to Shanghai, as well as other times, and I can’t believe that they’re already celebrating 20 years of performances! I love listening to the songs from the musical, and I’ve sung a few for auditions previously. I absolutely love watching the show, and I absolutely love the use of color for the show, especially in emerald city with the set and the cast, and how everyone is dressed in green, but still has their own distinct style. I also love when Elphaba flies in Defying Gravity, and have always loved seeing that scene, and although I’ve seen that scene and know that its going to happen, I’m always in awe when that happens. I really wanted to work on a show where there is flying involved, whether it be set or actor, because I really want to learn about how it works and experience it for myself. I do know that there are many safety measures involved, and that’s something I’m also really curious to know and learn about.
