For the sake of everyone in the industry, I hope AMPTP executives accept the conditions of SAG-AFTRA so the industry can start returning to full working capacity. Something that I had not heard about was that WGA had executives come to their boardroom instead of going to the usual AMPTP conference room in a shopping mall. While it is a small thing, it definitely indicates a power dynamic. I wish the article went more in depth about why it is significant that no Federal Mediation & Conciliation Service mediators will be present at Monday's meeting. Something I’m interested in seeing pan out is how SAG-AFTRA will include rules around the use of AI. Based on the contract WGA just signed, the conversation on AI is happening in all different industries, but it seems to be that WGA’s contract is the first to have something protecting creators from AI replacing their work as well as protecting past work from being used to teach AI.
