I’ve been following the strike from the beginning. I write for Star Trek News and I’ve been granted the unofficial job of Strike expert. I’ve covered pretty much every aspect of it. Also there are a bunch of Trek Actors on the negotiating board which is super cool. But ya, it’s really exciting to be seeing the strike, hopefully, coming to an end. I think it’s definitely gone on much longer than it needs to. I’m interested go see what comes out of negotiations. I wonder how many of the demands of the actors will be met. I’m hopeful that this deal could maybe make being a small actor profitable, because right now it certainly isn’t. I know this probably isn’t the case but I can be hopeful. I dislike the normalization of the “starving artist”. Art is such an important part of society and civilization as a whole and it is completely absurd that only a select few get to truly do art and only art. Artists struggling to afford shelter and housing really isn’t something that should be seen as normal. Because it isn’t. So many people undervalue their art and such, including actors. This is why this deal ensuring that the little guys get paid too is so important.
