Mosaic Theater, one of the theatres mentioned in this article, is one of my favorite regional theatres! I’m so glad they were mentioned in this article. I was able to shadow them for a few days when they were teching their Till Trilogy production and was able to see the commitment to diverse new works that they mention in this article. I found that the playwright, director, creative team, and artistic director were working together to create this new work. I’m also glad that regional theatres were highlighted so positively in this article. I’m far more interested in the regional circuit than Broadway. The sense of community and change-making that this article highlighted is the main reason. I find community theatre to have far fewer capital parameters than Broadway. I’m curious as to how we can engage in the same community building that these theatres do here at CMU; how can we engage the local Pittsburgh community in our art on campus?
