Broadway sound designer Nevin Steinberg named board president of New York City’s Town Hall

www.broadwaynews.com: The board of trustees for Town Hall, the 103-year old performance venue in the heart of Times Square, has announced a new president. Broadway sound designer Nevin Steinberg will serve as board president. He will succeed Tom Wirtshafter, who began his tenure as president in 2013 — after joining the board a decade prior.

I always love hearing about things like this because I think it really showcases how many jobs and opportunities there are out there. Like who knew a sound designer could be the prescient for NYC town hall. I think it makes perfect sense why they would hire a sound designer to do it but I think most people might not make that connection. I think the skills we learn as theatre makers transfer so beautifully to most settings. I looked up the venue to see pictures of it after reading this and it is a beautiful space. I would love to do something like Nevin Steinburg. I can only imagine the amount of creatives you would get to work with and the opportunities that would come with it. I have always loved the idea of sticking with one venue and getting to watch all of the shows and people move in and out. I find something really exciting and comforting about that.
