I didn’t know about this production, but I’d be really interested to see it and see how they took a new spin on the classic of Macbeth. I love seeing Shakespeare productions, as people interpret them in such different and new ways each time. The last time I saw Macbeth, I wasn’t enthralled with the production, however I am super excited for CMU’s iteration of it soon! It’s cool that Ralph Fiennes is in it, he is more notably to me forever Voldemort and the man in ‘The Grand Budapest Hotel’, both of which I think he did a fantastic job with, but it would be interesting to see how he portrays Macbeth. The production images in the article are fascinating, the lighting looks cool and I can see that the production is more modern in aesthetics. I’ve seen Shakespeare done in a modern light a couple times, and so differently each time, I wonder how it reads in this version. I’m interested in the spread out steps of the set, I wonder how they use the openness and areas of the set in the blocking of the production.

I have seen my fair share of Shakespeare productions; however, I have not seen a Macbeth set in a modern military world. The photos look gorgeous. I love the symmetricality of the set. It gives a nice sense of balance to a crazy show. I love the tunnels set on either side of the stage. It gives this wonderful sense of unease when dark, and when lit, the tunnels look so intriguing. The lighting looks phenomenal. You can see the haze in the photos, yet the faces of all the actors are so clear. The costumes bring a real sense of place as the set doesn't automatically let you know that they set the play in the current time. The costumes portray the time of the piece wonderfully. Of course, I also have to talk about the cast, as it was the reason I clicked on the article. I love Ralph Fiennes's work, and I know he is stunning as Macbeth.
