All you need for Goosemas is Robe

LightSoundJournal.com: Popular American jam band Goose grooved their way into the 2023 festive season with four special concerts staged over two days at the Hampton Coliseum in Virginia, all completely sold out. Lighting designer / director Andrew Goedde chose Robe moving lights as the principal fixtures and worked closely on developing his design with lighting programmer / technical director Tony Caporale, using their 2023 touring rig as a starting point. From this they evolved some new concepts for the tenth annual Goosemas event.

Wow. Seeing the photos of this concert looked absolutely incredible. More and more, I’ve been wanting to get into designing lighting for concerts, as I think it’s a really fun challenge both creatively and technically. The sheer scale of these productions is insane, as they have thousands of fixtures all working together. I am reminded of this one animated music video from my childhood that I can’t remember the name of for the life of me. It was produced by this company “Animusic” who animated music in this incredible style. I really loved their work as a child, and the one music video I’m thinking of in particular was this one where light beams formed the tones of the video. I think that childhood experience inspired some of my love of lighting design, and the more that I see concerts and other big music events, the more that I want to design for them.
