I was excited to hear that The Wiz tour will be coming to Broadway. I saw this when I was in Pittsburgh last semester, and I really enjoyed the performance. I had never seen the wiz, and I only knew a few of the songs, but I was really transported by the show. I thought that all the actors were so incredibly talented, and I thought everyone’s voice had such a unique quality that matched the character so perfectly. I also absolutely adored the choreography. Specifically, the tin man and the scarecrow had such specific movement qualities That it really sold me on their character and their physicality. In terms of the production design, I love that it started from black-and-white and transitioned into color when Dorothy traveled to Oz, and I thought it was really cool to see it all happen on stage. And I loved how everything was so clearly inspired by the original yet took a lot of creative liberties that added a lot to the story. A family friend will be performing in the pit on Broadway, so I’m excited to see it again.
