72K Fans Call for Congress to Break Up Live Nation, Ticketmaster
www.ticketnews.com: The ticket-buying process has caused frustration among fans more than ever over the past year as Ticketmaster and its parent company Live Nation control the industry with “platinum” and “dynamic pricing,” anti-competitive practices, and stressful presale queues and waitlists. Now, fans are speaking out; as a part of Fan Fairness Coalition’s “The Monopoly” campaign, live eventgoers have sent out more than 72,000 letters to Congress, calling for the merger to be broken-up.

I had no idea that that many fans had gone to congress about the problem that is Ticketmaster. But
I cannot say I am surprised. I think the first time I heard about ticket master and trying to get tickets through it was when Taylor started her Eras tour. I remember thinking there is no way I would go through all of that just to get concert tickets that cost way too much money. However, this last fall I went through the entire Ticketmaster battle trying to get tickets for Noah Kahan. I waited for over an hour and a half and was fortunate enough to land a good spot in the queue and land tickets that were within my budget. But I had so many friends that were not lucky and when they were given access to tickets there were only insanely priced tickets left. I agree that Ticketmaster has become a problem that is making Americans' lives harder. However, I would be curious to hear what people are proposing as possible solutions. Because honestly I think part of the issue is just an increase in attendance at these live performances. I think that there should definitely be improvements made to the process and website. But I do not honestly know what an alternative option would be that would make it much better.
