George Lucas Reminds Hollywood Not to Listen to the Haters
gizmodo.com: Speaking to CBS Sunday Morning, Lucas was talking about the reaction to his tinkering with the Star Wars movies for the 1997 special editions when he dropped in this little gem. “It’s hard to explain to the studios that if you listen to the people who are unhappy, it’s not going to turn out well,” Lucas said. “It’s going to be sad. Because they’re not people who know how to make movies.”

I absolutely loved this article, not only on a personal level, but looking to the rest of the film industry as well. I am someone who used to let other’s opinions influence my choices and I have been actively working to avoid this in a healthy manner, and hearing this belief reaffirmed by such a decorated industry professional is very encouraging. On a larger scale, however, George Lucas is absolutely right about how you cannot listen to online hate in the film industry, because most online critics typically have no idea how to make a film. And as a Star Wars fan, I absolutely agree that if the sequel trilogy had followed through on its original planned plot instead of letting online criticism dictate its outcome, we could have gotten a truly beautiful addition to the franchise instead of the controversial trilogy that still sparks debate among fans we have today.
