Kennedy Center board lacks materials needed for closure vote, senator says
The Washington Post: A federal judge in May ordered the stewards of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts to more carefully weigh the need for a long-term closure. But just days before those trustees are set to vote on the matter, they have received no new assessments about how closing for two years would affect the venue, according to Democratic lawmakers who sit on the board.

I think it is crazy that we are still talking about the Kennedy Center because something should have happened by now. I am glad that there is still a fight happening to keep it alive and that the community is not just rolling over to let the president do whatever he wants just because he wants power. This has been a ridiculous power grab that does not consider the amount of people that it would affect. It seems like they have put a lot more effort into fighting the name change, which, while that is important, does not seem like the most pressing issue. Branding can make or break a theater, but closing the theater for two years will be a much bigger issue than changing the name. Names carry weight, but closures affect the livelihood of the people. I am glad that people are still fighting it and I hope that something good comes from the fighting.
