If Paramount-Warners leaves, the built-in advantage of being a mecca for filmmakers with access to top talent, props and equipment disintegrates overnight. Studio stockpiles of props, wardrobe, cranes and cameras can truck over to Nashville or Austin. Crews can suddenly live in lower-cost states and afford homes and schools for their kids. They may have to pray to Baby Jesus a little more, but a little Holy Ghost Power never hurt nobody.

The current trend of these big production companies moving away from Hollywood is threatening to upend how the TV and Film industry functions. If the industry had evolved in a way that spread the companies out over a larger space than just one city it would have been a healthier business model overall. Now companies are trying to expand and finding that in order to do so they need to leave the sanctity of the city they have called home for so long. I fear that along with the leaving of these companies the people who work for those companies will also leave causing an economic collapse of LA as a whole. On a separate note, I loved the imagery in this article. I absolutely agree with the idea that Disney is ‘a fat hyena in a Costco’, the thought of that made me laugh out loud when I read it because it is so accurate.
