It is very exciting to see and hear that this show is soon to open, especially since I have Kaja Dunn who is the cultural consultant as a teacher in Anti-Racist and Equitable Theatre Practices. I think the concept of this show is extremely interesting and gives a lot of insight into what it was like to live in western Texas in 1893. A time during the post American civil war era. The story follows two African American twin sisters who decided to pass off as white to escape the racial impression of being African American in 1893 Texas. It is really interesting that Angelica Cheri who wrote the book and lyrics is actually a descendant of the 2 Clarke sisters. She has a much more in-depth view of these 2 sisters and has a very special connection to this show that makes the show even more exciting to see. When people have such a special connection to a show there is usually a considerably larger amount of authenticity to the show that makes it so much more immersive.
