California Gov. Gavin Newsom Vetoes Unemployment Bill for Striking Workers and Everyone Is Pissed

I am surprised that Governor Newson is not more sympathetic to this issue considering how large the film industry is in his state. I am not going to pretend I have any knowledge on the state of the country’s debt from unemployment benefits, but it seems to me like an odd stand for Newsom to take.
In another article I read a few weeks ago, a crew worker did the math and crews would not get hired onto productions until at least early 2024 if the strike ended in September. So how will the industry handle hundreds of people who have to move or find other jobs to support themselves and can not come back to production work. How does Newsom expect the people who have been out of work for months and won’t be working for the rest of the year to support themselves and how will it impact his state if the industry isn’t able to come back to it’s full strength?
