What is happening in Israel right now is an immense tragedy with ramifications that are going to affect generations to come. It is not lost on anyone in the community that this war began on the anniversary of the Yom Kippur War which many of the residents of Israel and beyond remember. Canceling this concert, in my mind, was the right call. If we put to many people in one place there is most likely a higher chance of it getting attacked and that feels like a risk that is just not worth taking. The artist and their team did the best thing possible in the worst situation imaginable. There is no need to repeat what happened in the Negev during that festival. The videos that are coming out show that the music was too loud to even hear the rockets as they approached. That to happen once is an incomprehensible tragedy but to happen twice would have been foolish and irresponsible. Hopefully the concert can be rescheduled for a later time and people will be able to purchase tickets but for now they have made the safest decision for all.
