Irondale Ensemble Project to Launch New Initiative For A New Generation Of Theater Makers
BroadwayWorld: Irondale is launching Irondale NextGen, a new artistic initiative that creates opportunities for a new generation of directors, performers, and theater makers within the Irondale Ensemble to develop and lead projects of their own, drawing on the philosophy and practices developed by the company's founders and longtime ensemble.

The ideas presented by the article were really encouraging; however, it was a shame there wasn't a lot of detail. This seems very promising for directors and maybe some designers; however, I'm hesitant to support programs like this for the lack of roles for more technical roles such as production managers, electricians, etc. I feel as though the emphasis for creative needs to extend to the shops that process these, especially as the skills learned there can be influential to designers. This may be an issue of just having publicity around it; however, acknowledging the technicians should be part of these creative publications, so people realize the role they play. I hope this is an exception to publicizing around technicians and not a reflection on the broader initiative in the theatre industry for young theatre makers. However, it was really nice to see any emphasis on the younger designers out there, especially to build portfolios.
