Okay…. I guess there’s a lesson in this. Something something, every cloud has a silver lining, you can take something meaningful out of any experience no matter how bad it may be. However the description of this character as “an evil chocolate maker who lives in the walls” leaves me… concerned. After reading this article and taking a glance at the film’s website, I see that it follows a “children’s illustrator” and deals with the tragic death of his son, Charlie, and so I have to wonder whether other aspects of Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka story will be making their way into the movie. Yeah, I won’t lie, I don’t think I’m curious enough to actually look into it any further than this, but the whole situation is very odd. Good for them I guess? I just hope everyone has learned their lesson about relying on AI to write scripts.

Personally I am both nervous and excited to see how AI generated scripts and many works hitting the public domain in the next couple of years works out. I first saw the questionable willy wonka experience on tik tok last week. I did not know the script was AI generated however with everything I have heard about the experience an AI generated script makes sense. I feel like this experience was a lesson in why AI can not replace writers in our industry as AI has consistently outputted subpar results when being told to write fiction for the entertainment industry. AI has a time and a place in your industry but writing scripts is not one of them. This experience also highlights the importance of maintaining the integrity of an art form as further adaptations are created. This is not the Willy Wonka Roald Dahl wrote and when did that change happen.
