The subject of this article is not necessarily newsworthy, but it did make me think about what it means to be a senior executive in a company, and how desirable of a job that would actually be. I feel like whatever organization you work in, the higher up you move the less fun things you get to do. Something that I find really interesting about theater is that generally the department head, who is the most senior person in a department, is the one who is figuring things out and doing the engineering of making stuff work. I want to be careful as I choose a career path in an industry such that I find advancement in my career while still being able to do interesting work. I think that I am capable of managing other people and taking the lead on a project, but I really really don’t want my entire job to be that of an administrator. I want to work hard but I want to be doing work I love, and being an administrator is not that.
