I am not surprised that Mattel is using the Barbie movie to propel themselves further into society’s view. I had no idea that there was a Mattel Adventure Park in Park Glendale Arizona, although I am not surprised by the fact that they are making another one in Kansas. What I am surprised about is the lack of rollercoasters talked about in this article. This Adventure park in Kansas sounds more like Great Wolf Lodge or something that is like a fancy resort with a couple of activities for the kids. I also think this adventure park sounds more focused on younger generations, and drawing families with their kids rather than teenagers and twenty-something year old. If Mattel wanted their audience to be older, they could add a couple more thrilling coasters and then they would have a good mixture of family-themed aspects of the park and thrill-inducing aspects. With the adventure park breaking ground this year, it will be interesting to see what comes of the second Mattel Adventure park.

I kind of always forget that Mattel is a massive company and has made so many more successful products other than Barbie. I don’t know why they would choose to open their second-ever park in Kansas City of all places but it matches the company’s trend with their first park being in Glendale, Arizona. I think it is definitely tailored towards kids and parents but it overall does sound fun and innovative. The explosion of Barbie because of the movie makes this as a really good business decision from Mattel. I didn’t know Mattel has the rights to the He-man franchise and I also completely forgot that they own UNO and Hot Wheels as well. I would love to put on my “I am Kenough” sweatshirt and walk around the Barbie Dreamhouse and just have fun messing around and being in my natural habitat as a Ken.

Like I think many people after last summer I read the title of this article and thought this article was just going to be about Barbie. I might have had to realize that Mattel is not just about Barbie and they do many other things. I honestly thing that this theme park is coming out at a perfect time because people are not going to stop talking about the Barbie movie in my mind any time soon. This theme park will also remind people and let them kind of be in their own little Barbie Land. When i was little I loved going to theme parks and when I went to Legoland for the first time and I felt like I was a little lego with all of these moving parts around me I did not want to leave, I can only imagine how much fun this park will be for not only the kids but the parents as well because of how popular Barbie is not only just for the younger kids.

I did not know there was a first Mattel adventure park, so it really threw me off to read about the second one that is going to be in Kansas City. I mean, it makes sense for Mattel to be riding the wave of post-Barbie movie popularity, but I really wonder why the decision was made to open a second park in Kansas City, versus doing something different like advertising the fact that the first one even exists. I think that with a good bit of dedicated marketing, the Glendale park could be revamped into a really big and exciting thing, rather than splitting the attention between two parks and trying to get people to realize Mattel even has an adventure park. I think that having Glendale and Kansas City as the locations is definitely an interesting decision, but I’m sure that there's a lot of money reasons for why those were chosen.
