The Public Theater Sets Traveling Free Shakespeare in the Park Schedule for Summer 2024
www.broadwayworld.com: The Public Theater will present GO PUBLIC! A Festival of Free Shakespeare in the Park, featuring a suite of free summer programming taking place across all five boroughs. From the return of The Mobile Unit’s joyful, bilingual musical adaptation of THE COMEDY OF ERRORS to outdoor screenings of the acclaimed 2019 production of MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING, and opportunities to enjoy encore performances at home, GO PUBLIC! offers an array of free programming for all as Free Shakespeare in the Park’s home at The Delacorte Theater in Central Park undergoes its most significant revitalization in its 62-year history.

The sharing of theater is something very important and not to be taken for granted. Theater is so personal and creative– although not for everyone, can be appreciated and looked at with awe. I think it is something everyone should be exposed to. Even in a city, like New York, some children never experience a theater show. Or even more, a chance to be a part of it. I remember as a child, I was lucky enough to be taken to Broadway shows, my middle school had a yearly musical and we even had a required drama class. I was immersed in theater, which is what gave me my love for it. If more young people get opportunities like this, more aspiring directors, designers, and actors will be produced. The theater is a dying industry. It needs press and talk for it to become more relevant. I think this exhibition in New York public parks is a push in the right direction.
