I want to go to more opera. I quite enjoy opera, though not necessarily for the story. Whenever I go I enter like a trance. I am just surrounded by pretty visuals and even prettier music. I love it. It’s almost meditative. I’m not sure how I feel about the operas that will be happening next season. I don’t know many of them so I’m not overly excited about any of them. Cavalleria Rusticana/Pagliacci looks really interesting. It’s actually 2 operas which I think are interesting. I will try to see it, I think. As long as I have the time. I’m also curious why they decided to put on Madame Butterfly. I don’t know much about the opera but I know it is quite dated and offensive. The opera seemed proud of this in their announcement saying “despite its political incorrectness the opera endures.” Perhaps the opera shouldn’t endure if it’s dated and offensive. It could be time for something new.
