Stagehands and Crew at Off-Broadway's 'Titanique' and Atlantic Theater Company Cast Historic Vote for Unionization

bnnbreaking.com: Imagine the electric atmosphere backstage at an Off-Broadway show. The hustle of workers in the shadows, each a cog in a grand theatrical machine, creating magic night after night. Yet, beneath the surface of this enchantment lies a story of determination and unity, culminating in a historic decision by the workers at 'Titanique' and the Atlantic Theater Company to join the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE), marking a significant victory for labor rights in the entertainment industry.

It’s crazy to me in this day and age that when that many people want something they still have to physically band together and yell about what the people want. I know the reasons why a company such as Titanique or the Atlantic Theatre Company wouldn’t want their laborers to join IATSE–I think it’s just a bad look on the part of the company to deny their workers the unionization they want. As the article dramatically writes, stagehands technicians and carpenters are the backbone of these companies so if they’re not happy and leave the theater isn’t left with much except eager young people ready to join the team and leave in the same manner a few years later when their workers rights are not met. I don’t think I’d like to work for a company that does not comply with IATSE because it leaves too much uncertainty about the company’s stability if a strike for that change ever occurs.

As always and they have commented before in past articles I will always be on the side of creating unions and this is no different. I remember seeing the Titanic exhibit as a child and thoroughly enjoying walking around and seeing the Lego version and everything. and this experience should be protected the unions the workers who provide this experience should be protected by unions. Everyone should be protected by unions there is no scenario in my opinion in which a group of workers should not have a union. Very few places creative working environment in which the workers don't feel the need to create a union or to join a union and for those of you it's still somewhat think they should have a union but regardless it is a very miniscule number that is even close to not “needing” A union. I am very excited to see where this goes
