It seems simultaneously like both yesterday when Aladdin opened on Broadway because I can remember it happening and a lifetime ago. I don't know how I feel about shows having incredibly long runs such as Wicked and The Lion King because I feel like at a certain point it's your responsibility to turn over the theater to a future show. It is incredible to hear about the amount of records that Aladdin has broken both on Broadway and throughout the 10 other productions of the show. I am curious to see what a professional level of the show would look like remounted with different designs and wonder if we'll ever get something like that with Aladdin. It was very interesting to hear that they're actually changing some elements of the show for the 10-year anniversary. I feel like this is not very common as shows once they're locked stay the same even throughout special occasions and if there's any acknowledgment it's traditionally at curtain call however, I'm curious to see what these changes look like mounted and if they've been worth the 10 year long wait .It seems simultaneously like both yesterday when Aladdin opened on Broadway because I can remember it happening and a lifetime ago. I am a big fan of the Aladdin movie, the original animated one not the live action that came out more recently, and so when Aladdin was announced to open on Broadway ten years ago, little eight year old me was so excited. I saw Aladdin with the original Broadway cast, and remember absolutely loving it. It is a perfect show for little kids, like I was, to experience the magic of the movie in real life. I also remember when the Aladdin cast was stuck in the airport with the Lion King cast and they basically did a flash mob of an Aladdin vs. Lion King battle which went viral online. I am very happy to see that this show is still running, albeit a bit surprised considering the multitude of other Disney Broadway productions that I would have thought would beat out Aladdin. I hope they have a lovely ten year celebration, congrats to everyone involved!

The animated film Aladdin was always one of my favorites growing up. My family owned it on our portable DVD player and I remember my brother and I watching it many times on road trips. I had always been interested in seeing the musical, but never had the chance to until last year when I saw the touring production in D.C. I was, unfortunately, quite dissapointed with the show despite all of the positive things I had heard about. The stage combat was quite poor with several people seemingly dropping their swords or being in the wrong place accidentally. A lot of the acting was awkward and the mix engineer kept unmuting microphones too late and cutting off parts of dialogue. It was a fun show, but it just felt messy in a lot of ways. This could have been just a bad performance, but I would love to see it on broadway someday because I doubt a show could survive for this long with this much acclaim without being of a very high quality.

This is kind of crazy! I can't believe Aladdin has been on Broadway for 10 years. I generally don't remember the start date of most things, and that did not change with Aladdin. However it definitely seems that Aladdin just started on Broadway yesterday and I am being pranked. time seems to fly by way faster than usual more recently. I also don't really remember if I ever saw the touring production a lot and, I think I did, once again this is just a guess. I think the show is really cool, and I don't know too much about it, but that doesn't mean it doesn't look stunning. they're definitely lots of cool effects and magical things that happen in the show that can't happen in other shows. I think the spectacle of this show is incredible and very hard to find other shows similar. Aladdin is one of the shows that is the epitome of theater spectacle.
