2024 Oscars Craft Awards: Who Will Win, Who Should Win
IndieWire: When it comes to craft, we all know the Academy likes big, bold, and obvious uses of great artisans’ skill sets — but that doesn’t always mean it’s the best. With Oscar voting starting later this week, the IndieWire craft team looks at seven categories to see who is most likely to win and who we would pick if we had a vote.

I cannot even decide what my favorite movie is. So when award season comes around and we attempt to deem one actor, or one movie or show the “best” I find the whole endevour sort of comical. How do you decide one performance from another or one directors style versus another. I think thats why I love reading articles like this because its essentially justification for what the writer considers “best” as well as an analytical view on the awards season (specifically the Oscars in this case). Because even though someone could argue that barbies costumes brought us out of the world we know and into Barbieland and how amazing that was, one could also argue that Killers of the flower Moon perfectly depicted the world as it was and equally did as good as a job. Its interesting how we factor in our personal wants and desires into decided what should win. I don’t know at the ned of the day I think it is pretty impossible to decide.
I am not going to lie I spent a lot of time going back and forth between this article and who won the Golden Globes. I have quite a difficult time remembering the difference between all of the different award shows. I wonder how they determined who would win. I feel as though making that assumption is quite strong. It took me way too long to realize that half of the categories mentioned in this article weren't even categories in the Golden Globes. I have had a long gripe about production teams not getting the recognition they deserve. I am glad that there are those categories at the Oscars however one award show out of the multitude that actors have is quite a stark difference. I feel after reading all of these articles I really need to watch more of these movies so I can see up-and-coming artists as well as season artists do the thing.
