DC Theater Arts: One of Ethan Heard’s first loves was musical theater. Having grown up in the DC area, Heard performed in over 20 musicals before going to college. Yet Heard has made a name for himself by engaging in all elements of theatrical arts: he is the co-founder and former artistic director of the Heartbeat Opera, a New York City–based company staging adaptations of classic opera stories such as Fidelio, Carmen, and Macbeth.
