‘Beef’ Was So Close to Doing What Movies and TV Shows Failed To Do

collider.com: Netflix's Beef is a dark comedy about two feuding Asian Americans, Amy (Ali Wong) and Danny (Steven Yeun). To say that Beef is a masterwork of film and television would be an understatement. Full of small but profound nuances, Beef tells a well-rounded story that perfectly exemplifies the phrase "art imitates life."

I watched beef in two days last week because it was addictive. I highly recommend that everyone should go watch it. after watching it I listened to a bunch of podcasts and learned that originally they were going to make one of the two men characters white. I am so glad they did not do this, because as the article says having both of them be hard-working, Asian, American characters that have this mutual understanding of the hardships that come with that label it creates a inherent bond between these two, despite their hatred of one another. As a white woman, I’m not sure I get to share my opinions on the actor, playing George, George, not being from the culture his character. However, I would say it is interesting, because within the show, George is the character who probably grew up with the closest experience to being white, because he came from a rich family and focused lots of his energy into therapeutic practices of the US.
