Disneyland Fans Joke and Mourn the Flaming Demise of Murphy the ‘Fantasmic!’ Dragon
www.thewrap.com: For over 30 years, Disney fans have flocked to Disneyland to see “Fantasmic!,” a nighttime show that celebrates the power of imagination. But no one could have imagined seeing the dragon used during the show’s climax to burn down to the ground in a tower of flames.

I saw Murphy just last summer when I saw Fantasmic. My first reaction when the iconic dragon burst into flames was humor. I feel like this was one of the most common reactions to this incident, however the fire that took Murphy’s life could have gone catastrophically wrong if the incident was not handled in an efficient and safe manner. I think Murphy’s demise shows the entertainment industry the importance of having solid up to date emergency plans as well as solid connections and communications with the first responders in your area depending on the size of the operation. Though Murphy’s charged death was tragic it shwed what having a solid up to date and organized way to handle catastrophic events during a performance in a safe and effective way. Overall though Murphy’s demise went about as good as it could have it was still what should be considered a tragic and unexpected end to an incredible piece of technology.
