Moment Factory: Lighting up the night
InPark Magazine: Astra Lumina opened in October, 2022, at Anakeesta, a family theme park located on a mountaintop in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. The park was opened in 2017, after the Great Smoky Mountain wildfires destroyed much of the area. As a separate add-on ticket, Astra Lumina was created to help extend guest visits into the evening.

I got a taste of lighting design when I had to take pictures of my sculpture for basic design. I hadn’t thought before about how many different ways you can affect the mood of a piece with just lighting and camera angles. I definitely plan on experimenting more with lighting and photography with the art I will create in the future. This article was a really fun read, I loved learning about Anakeesta’s Astra Lumina Night Walk. The pictures are really incredible and I bet it is even more incredible in person. Especially when it comes to interactive, "walk through" art, lighting really brings it to a whole new level. I really like experimenting with the direction of light and how that interacts with the direction of the camera angle. You can create so many different compositions all with different moods just by changing where the light is coming from.
