Celebrity Stylists Predict Oscar Red Carpet Fashion
Variety: “We’re a little more liberated,” says Jessica Paster, a veteran stylist who dressed Aubrey Plaza in a slinky Louis Vuitton dress for the Critics Choice Awards, “Babylon” actress Li Jun Li in a strapless Dolce & Gabbana for the Golden Globes, and Emily Blunt in a form-fitting Oscar de la Renta dress for the SAG Awards.

I’m super excited for the awards season and the red carpet looks that come complimentary with it. As someone who loves fancy ball gowns, I remember seeing tons of fashion blogs and articles about the red carpet looks after big awards such as the Academy Awards and Grammys. I know that a lot of celebrities have their long-term collaborating stylists and brands, meaning that they will always be wearing garments from a set designer or brand, but I’m still always so intrigued to see what everyone comes up with. I’m not surprised that vintage and green outfits are a trend and I think it’s honestly a great step forward for the industry. I think vintage dresses are always a fun surprise, especially when the stylists add their personal twist to the outfits. And as the saying goes, “fashion is a cycle”; what was popular perhaps 20 years ago seems to be coming back to us now. Based on what I’ve seen on this year’s runway so far, I’m excited to see if a similar trend shows up on the red carpets.
