Inside Taylor Swift's Eras Tour wardrobe
www.harpersbazaar.com: Taylor Swift is back and she means business. The singer's much-anticipated 'Eras' tour kicked off this weekend – marking her first full show in five years – and, as you might expect, the impressive three-hour set featured a string of high-octane, custom-made looks.
The show was split into different sections to represent each of Swift's albums, with bespoke outfits for every era.

I haven't seen any live photos of Taylor Swift's tour but design for concerts has always been something that's been really intriguing to me. There's something about concert design versus actual theatrical design that is so interesting to me, and the costume design for The specific show is really really cool. coming in I wasn't really sure if I wanted to focus on design for Live Theater, film, or cinematography, But as I've gone to the year it's become more and more clear to me that I think I would like to go into concert design after I graduate. Since you're designing for a person rather than a character I feel like there's more creative Liberty than if you were to have to follow it script and a character's backstory. for lighting design specifically I'm really into dark lighting and I think that if I'm not trying to Spotlight a person I'll have a lot more creative Liberty.
SoTaylor Swift has always been an icon when it comes to her costume during her music videos and during her tours, it very much sets the tone of what she’s performing at this eras tour having so many different albums being prominently featured I think it’s really impressive. How many costumes they were able to get for her. I also applied the level of detail in each look all the way down to the custom, Christian Louboutin shoes that are stunning and probably super uncomfortable. I am also a really big fan of the variety in her luxe. She has a lot of the very classic Pop concert, glittery tight fitting, revealing costumes that are definitely more cost to me and only serve the purpose of being worn on a stage performing dancing but with the introduction of the two ball gowns into the showcase it’s creating a more angelic moment and making it more like a masterful performance rather than a pop concert. I also think that her team has done a really good job of emulating the feeling of each album with each outfit and as we continue to see clips from the concert. I would be interested to see what these quick changes look like.
Pop star costumes have always been super interesting to me. It’s such a specific subgenre of costumes - to me, it seems to be a cross (with varying ratios) between dance costumes and avant garde / high fashion / red carpet. There’s interesting requirements there. I think the Eras Tour must’ve been such an in depth and interesting process to develop for many reasons - between the sheer amount of material Taylor compiled and also her notable attention to detail. It didn’t even occur to me that these looks would be designed by Versace or de la Renta. The bodysuits are stunning and such a popstar staple. It’s hard for me to pick a favorite, but I think the Midnights look with the boots is my favorite. I’m a sucker for unique textures. The ballgowns actually seemed unorthodox to me (though I am not very acquainted with the pop scene, honestly.) You wouldn’t think a ball gown would be ideal for a concert setting, but they are absolutely beautiful and I’m sure it made perfect sense.
