Meyer Sound and Dolby Atmos Expand the Aural Experience at One-of-a-Kind New Orleans Theater

LightSoundJournal.com: In some ways, the Prytania Theatre in New Orleans harkens back to a bygone era. It has been in continuous operation as a neighborhood movie house since 1914, and it is the last remaining single-screen commercial theater in the South. But while the interior décor evokes the mid-20th century heyday of Hollywood, a recent technology upgrade has launched the Prytania Theatre into the future with 4K laser digital projection and Dolby Atmos® immersive audio powered by Meyer Sound cinema series loudspeakers.

I love reading about different set ups at different kinds of venues - and this is the first time I’ve run into a movie theater technical setup article on this site. I love the balance that was emphasized in making sure that the sound system was able to support the needs of the movies of the future, but would still be able to support and enhance the movies of the past. The detail of the sound being heard as described in this article must be really cool (and leads me to want to go visit this theater). I also appreciate how despite the age of the legacy of these theaters, the owners keep updating the experience for their patrons, keeping the technology current in order to give their patrons the best possible experience. This movie theater has the infrastructure to continue providing their patrons with an incredible experience every time they visit no matter what kind of movie they come to watch.
