I never knew that Zactrack was used during the Super Bowl to create dynamic lighting effects that followed the movement of the players on the field. Hell, I didn’t even know that tracking systems were a thing. It was so interesting that the Zactrack system uses sensors to track the position of each player on the field in real-time, which allows the lighting designer to create dynamic effects that follow the action on the field. When reading the lighting designer’s explanation of how the Zactrack system allowed him to create lighting effects that were more dynamic and visually engaging than traditional lighting techniques was so incredibly interesting and brand new to me. I also appreciate how the article also highlighted the challenges faced during the implementation of the system, which provided a realistic insight into the practical application of the technology in live entertainment systems and venues such as the superbowl or even concerts.
