While, it’s fine for people to go and expressed opinion on different topics and I am not going to fault Toni Collette for doing that. I do think it’s really unprofessional that she is basically saying that intimacy coordinators on set have actually made her feel more uncomfortable makes me feel like this is something that is going on for her and has been affected by other things other than just this intimacy coordinator presents as of recent. I think that intimacy coordinators are really important to our industry and as we continue to bring young actors and actresses into this industry, making sure they feel comfortable with these intimate scenes is crucial to their survival. Just because she never had any bad experiences with intimacy onset does not mean that, the intimacy coordinator should not be present. Just like if a stuntman has never had an accident on set it doesn’t mean that medical professional shouldn’t be onset to help ensure safety. Intimacy coordinator or some thing we’ve been talking about a lot in the anti-racist and equitable practices class within the last week. That’s the main reason I wanted to read this article, and from my understanding of what it really means in today’s industry, it is a role that has been filled help ensure that people have a voice in order to suck their boundaries. in the past in her industry, it was the cliché that if you really want it, you will do anything to get it which is just an unhealthy way to approach following your dreams so with the emergence of the intimacy coordinator, I see this as a healthy step towards a better industry.
