Live Nation is wiring more than 60 venues for livestreaming
www.fastcompany.com: Live Nation has had enough of the pandemic roller coster. After more than a year of empty arenas, the entertainment giant is taking matters into own hands and wiring over 60 venues for livestreaming, the company announced today.

I was initially a bit surprised to read that Live Nation would be undertaking this massive venture during what many are predicting (and hoping) is the latter end of the pandemic. It seems like it might not be worth it to invest so much in something that hopefully will not be necessary for much longer. But, upon reading the article it seems to me that Live Nation is hoping to make this a long term venture that will increase revenue by giving access to see shows to a lot more people. I totally agree that there are some concerts that I would maybe want to see, but are not really worth the hassle of going to, paying for, and scheduling, but if that same show is less expensive and I can watch from home, maybe I would be interested in it. I will be interested to see if this takes off, because the whole point of a concert is the energy you feel with the crowd, but maybe this will be an option that a lot of people avail themselves of.
It is very exciting to see that Live Nation is wiring more than 60 venues in a high tech plan to bring concerts to everyone. This is starting to show us that live events will start to become more hybrid as things start to open up. Although I do miss live entertainment, it will be nice to not have to trek all the way downtown to go see a show and I could just merely watch it from my living room. It will save me a lot of time and money. I am grateful for that. I do also think the live experience is very important though. The live experience will still be maintained and will probably be the better version of the show. But we should improve the accessibility of this online content as it will hopefully drive interest in content which could lead to a person wanting to see someone or something specific live and that would make more money for everyone.
I really like the idea of live streaming shows with Live Nation in their venues. I am not the biggest fan of Live Nation and everything they do in the industry, but this actually makes a lot of sense to do. I am actually pretty surprised that it did not come sooner than May 7 because this would have been a really great thing to have earlier in the pandemic and it seems a bit late to be retrofitting a bunch of music venues with live stream equipment. However, I really love that it expands access to a whole number of additional people. There are so many people who either can’t afford the artists they love, or live too far away from the venue. This gives a great option for people to be able to see live music at a good price. I am excited to see which of their next venues they decide to do this is because this is also a really great opportunity to see places that you have not before.
