I'm genuinely really surprised and disappointed that there isn't more drag on Broadway, and straight actors that do drag exclusively for that role do not count. There seems to be a lot of drag in the West End, which I guess makes sense since pantomime is closely adjacent to drag, but I only thing of one show, Head Over Heels, that has an actual drag queen in the show, Peppermint, who is also the only trans person I can think of on Broadway. There have been plenty of drag queen and cross-dressing characters on Broadway, very few of which being played by queer people and given respect. It's shocking to me that drag queens don't have their own "one queen shows" on Broadway too. There have been some off-Broadway, but I'd venture to say that about 75% of NYC drag queens are trained in acting or musical theater. I personally would love to see Sasha Velour on Broadway, having had pushed plenty of boundaries in theater before.
