GoldDerby: “The world has finally caught up to Tommy Walker,” declares director Des McAnuff about why the time was right to revive “The Who’s Tommy” on Broadway. It has been 31 years since the original production debuted, and the inspiration to bring the show back to New York came while the director and musician Pete Townshend — who collaborated on the book of the musical — were working on a screenplay for a film adaptation.
