I think this document will help to provide some perspective on the two different main uses of AI. The first of which is what we’ve been using for years. Small tools to slightly improve things that we interact with. The second use is what people are scared of. It’s when the AI alters or creates something that drastically changes the perspective of something, or steals something altogether. And well, this is not new news, it is something that a lot of people forget to talk about. That first version of AI use is not inherently harmful, worth examining in its own right. It is wonderful to see the various facets of AI being evaluated, as opposed to being inherently evil. Recognizing potential bias, recognizing that AI does not care about authorship, and recognizing how AI can alter someone’s perception of a primary source. These are all very important things to consider and I’m glad that this document is getting created.
