I was disappointed in this article because it had absolutely no information about the events that led to the tragic incident that led to a rigger falling from a height. I have to assume that there was some issue with a fall arrest system, either an equipment malfunction or that the rigger was not properly wearing fall arrest. In our industry, we spend a lot of time working at heights, and it is important to remember that it is constantly dangerous and that it is easy to get complacent when you have done something a million times.
Overall, it is important to remember that we have a dangerous job, moving around large scenic pieces with things above us and possible hazards around us. Oftentimes the safety measures that are in place for the general public are not in place during load-ins or strikes, meaning that people need to be even more careful than normal.
