Review Roundup: THE BEST WE COULD (A FAMILY TRAGEDY) Opens at New York City Center
www.broadwayworld.com: A daughter's road trip with her father becomes a theatrical journey across more than just state lines. This funny, wise, and heartbreaking debut from an exciting new writer is brought to vibrant life by director Daniel Aukin, whom MTC audiences will remember from Fool for Love and Fulfillment Center.

The Best We Could sounds like an interesting play to watch given its somewhat different premise of an aging father and his grown up daughter going on a road trip. The reviews listed on the website under the main article gave me the impression that the show ended sadly but it was overall a moving yet still funny piece. From a design point of view though obviously never have seen the show, I wonder how shows that involve car travel work. Like not only representing the states and locations changing but also the representation of a car. Moving away from the play itself because again I don’t know what angle of design The Best We Could, but if in a show like that the director wanted everything to be depicted literally I think it would be hard to show people in a moving vehicle/what angle/if it’s a literal depiction of a car how does overhead lighting work?
