www.businessinsider.com: The Department of Business and Professional Regulation filed a 17-page complaint Tuesday against the show's venue, the James L. Knight Center, which is affiliated with Hyatt. The show required people under 18 to be accompanied by an adult as a condition of being allowed to attend.

I think Brandon Wolf’s response with Equality Florida is exactly right. DeSantis’s own conservative ideology would say that the government shouldn’t intervene in areas that are the purview of parents to decide for their own children, and yet he is doing that very thing because he wants to target drag shows. It’s none of his business if parents want to take their kids to a drag show – just like a movie or video game, as Wolf analogizes. These performances aren’t in an educational setting, no one is being forced to watch. These are ticketed events that adults make the decision to see, and bring their kids to only if they feel comfortable. Speaking of educational settings, the continuing Don’t Say Gay bans make it an embarrassing time to be from Florida. Banning lessons about gender and sexuality is going to hurt young kids in the long run, and it takes away safe spaces for kids struggling with their identities.
Everything happening in Florida right now makes me sick to my stomach. Growing up there, I never imagined it would get that bad. But after COVID it just got worse and worse. This article shows the danger that Florida and the rest of the country is in. The Miami Hyatt Hotel is getting their Liquor License threatened due to letting in sixteen year olds with their parents to a drag show. DeSantis and other republicans have been after the LGBTQ+ community, specifically the younger generation for over a year now. This article talked about how hypocritical this law is due to the picking and choosing. The article talked about DeSantis going to not let parents bring their kids to PG 13 movies or play video games. The things Florida is doing violates the first amendment. The article mentions this and closes the article saying that just because the Government doesn't like the content of the speech doesn't mean they can stop it.
