This is my first time hearing of the "Black Theater United" foundation and it makes me happy to witness that steps are being taken to make the theatrical industry more diverse and welcoming of black theater enthusiast. The need for more black leadership and creators of theater is a dire step that needs to be taken within the theatrical world. Black people are one of the most innovative creators of music, dance and entertainment itself. Thus, the lack of black people on and especially backstage exhibits the lack of appreciation and dismissiveness towards black artist. Leadership can be what makes a organization succeed exceptionally or cause its downfall. Thus, picking a new leader is a very big step for a organization especially one dealing with the future and present lives of black people in the theater industry. The fact that it isn't just one new leader being appointed but an entire committee is an even bigger deal. So I trust that this new leadership will bring prosperity to this foundation and create change within the theater industry.
