Full disclaimer: I only clicked on this article because I have a random fascination with Budapest. I suspect it has something to do with ancestral ties to Hungary and "blood memory" but I digress. What I really found interesting about this article and why I'm glad I clicked on it was the obvious dedication of the city to the arts. Even through the pandemic, they put on streamed light shows for the public. They also took advantage of the time off to make the experience for future audiences better. Upgrading technology is a huge expense, let alone during the height of the pandemic when everything was locked down. I'm also just insanely impressed that MÜPA considered the voices of all of the technicians in making changes, not only those in the lighting department, but in sound and video, too. The fact that they purposely sought out new equipment that would be camera-friendly and produce the least amount of noise is huge. It's clear that MÜPA finds value in making the most out of this investment, and that they anticipate streaming as a new fixture in live entertainment. Also, more personally, I gleaned a bit more about lighting instruments. I still don't know what the "banana" effect is... I'm going to have to dive deeper into a Google search.
